Welcome

A first impression is everything! As part of the Welcome Team you get to be the smiling face that visitors see their first time here. Set the tone for new families as you welcome them in, and show them their next steps.

  • Responsibilities

    • Create a welcoming and inviting encounter with everyone entering the church

    • Seek out and engage with newcomers and visitors

    • Give directions and answer basic questions about the church

    • Guide newcomers on how they can get more involved

Hospitality

On the Hospitality Team, we set the table for people to encounter Jesus. Some people just need a warm cup of coffee to hide behind when they arrive, and that’s alright! We’re here to put our best foot forward by providing a clean atmosphere.

  • Responsibilities

    • Maintain a clean atmosphere in the commons area

    • Brew coffee and prep the cafe areas ahead of people arriving

    • Prepare the elements for the communion stations in the Worship Center

Usher

Can you bring stability to a room? The Usher Team is filled with trustworthy men and women who can get people and things where they need to be. That might look like pushing a baptism tank across the church, or it might just be a friendly face that helps new families find a seat.

  • Responsibilities

    • Help everyone find a seat, even if it means hauling more chairs into the room

    • Hold the door and welcome people to the Worship Center

    • Keep a record of attendance across the building as well as manage a portion of the offering

Prayer

Before a word is spoken, we pray. Before a note is played, we pray. Be a part of the team that covers a Sunday morning in prayer and brings the power of the Holy Spirit to the real struggles of people in our community.

  • Responsibilities

    • Engage with people desiring prayer during a service

    • Arrive early to cover the pastor and worship team in prayer

    • Follow the Vineyard Prayer Model

Kids

The VKids team cares for kids from birth through 5th Grade in all sorts of ways. That might be welcoming, registering, and connecting new families to the church, or it might be directly teaching and encouraging kids. No matter the role, we create a safe, fun, and age-appropriate environment where the Bible can come to life, relationships can be built, and kids can meet Jesus on their level!

  • VKids Desk Team

    • Welcome and register new families for VKids

    • Assist with self-check in stations

    • Ensure VKids is secure during each session by following all safety protocols

    • Support the needs of classroom leaders

    • Record classroom attendance

    Nursery Team

    • Provide care for a small group of infants

    • Sing songs and pray over kids while talking to them about Jesus

    • Build solid relationships with kids, letting them know they are cared for, valued, and loved

    Small Group Leader Team
    assigned to different aged classrooms

    • Lead previously prepared small group activities

    • Facilitate rich, age-appropriate discussion based on the Bible lesson

    • Guide kids as they grow in their relationship with Jesus and understanding of the Gospel

    • Build solid relationships with kids by letting them know they are cared for, valued and loved

    Large Group Leader Team
    assigned to different aged classrooms

    • Tell stories that help to bring the Bible to life for a large group of kids

    • Deliver the message in a lively, fun, and engaging way

    • Present the Gospel message to kids on their level

    • Leave kids with a relevant truth to apply to their lives

    VSM Student Assistant

    • 6th - 12th grade student

    • Assist adult leaders in each classroom

    • Must attend a VKids New Volunteer Training

    • Must submit to a background check provided through the church (students must get a recommendation from VSM Staff and parent/guardian permission)

    • Any students volunteers must also be active in VSM

Students

Students have big questions, but our Student Ministry Team sits on the front line. We reach students with the truth of Jesus when they have so many other messages filling their heads.

  • Responsibilities

    • Lead a middle school or high school small group weekly

    • Be present from 6:30-8:30pm on Wednesday nights

    • Engage and interact with students in conversation and activities

    • Must attend a VSM Leader training meeting

Worship

Each week, the Worship Team leads our church to the throne of grace. This is a collection of believers who not only bring excellence to the weekend service, but set an example of what it means to earnestly worship our God.

  • Responsibilities

    • Help create and maintain an atmosphere of worship

    • Attend Thursday night rehearsals

    • Spend required personal time preparing parts before rehearsal

    Additional Notes

    • An audition with the Worship Pastor is required for all new team members, including a time to shadow

Production

Do you have an eye for detail? The Production Team runs all the gear in the Worship Center and leverages their skills to remove distractions that would keep people from Jesus.

  • Sound Tech

    • Set-up audio gear according to stage plots and input lists

    • Create a balanced and engaging mix for both people in-house and online

    • Work within the vision of the Worship Pastor and the style and values of Vineyard Richmond

    Graphics Tech

    • Maintain proper timing for lyrics for songs

    • Follow cues for advancing sermon notes

    • Edit slides as needed

    Lighting Tech

    • Learn the dynamics of the songs for a weekend

    • Advance lighting cues to enhance the atmosphere around a song

    • Adjust lights for transitions in a service

    Video Director

    • Cut together multiple live cameras to show the online audience what is happening in the room

    • Maintain polite and encouraging direction to camera operators

    • Learn the dynamics of the weekend service’s songs

    • Operate a PTZ camera as needed

    Camera Operator

    • Creatively look for ways to communicate the vibe of what is happening in the Worship Center

    • Follow the vision and direction of the weekend Video Director

    • Learn the dynamics of each song played for a weekend service

    VKids Production Tech

    • Mix sound for the VKids Worship Team

    • Advance lyrics for the weekly songs

    • Follow the lead of the classroom teacher

    Additional Notes

    • Training is provided for all positions.

    • Most positions require arriving about two hours before service starts.

Design

God gifts his people in all sorts of ways. As a part of the Design Team, you get to use your creative eye to craft beautiful environments, develop expansive chalk walls, design impactful digital art, or share your specific gifts in whatever need there is.

  • Responsibilities

    • Design creative spaces for stage and events

    • Complete creative projects for chalk wall, stage, and/or graphics

    Additional Notes

    • A portfolio of completed work is preferred

Hope Food Pantry

Our neighbors visit the Hope Food Pantry each month because they need a bit of help keeping some food staples in their home. But what they find is a team of people ready to meet their physical needs as well as pray the Kingdom of God into their struggles.

  • Responsibilities

    • Sort, organize, and stock food donations

    • Register each neighbor that visits the pantry

    • Prepare and carry food boxes to neighbors’ cars

    • Transport and unload food from community partners to the pantry

    • Create inviting atmosphere and build positive relationships with neighbors

Events

None of this happens by accident. Behind the goods given away, behind the prayers that are shared, behind the times of laughter with friends— there is a team of people listening to the Holy Spirit and leveraging their gifts of administration for the Kingdom of Heaven.
